...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Missouri... Current River at Van Buren affecting Carter County. Current River near Doniphan affecting Ripley County. .Very heavy rainfall upstream over the past couple of days, in some cases in excess of 10 inches, is causing a significant rise on the Current River. The river is forecast to crest in major flooding at Van Buren Wednesday evening and at Doniphan midday Thursday. * WHAT...Major flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Current River at Van Buren. * WHEN...From late tonight to Thursday afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Minor flooding occurs affecting mainly bottomland and surrounding low lying areas. At 23.0 feet, Some flooding in low sections in town begins. At 29.0 feet, Large amounts of property damage can be expected. Evacuation of many homes and businesses becomes necessary. The courthouse yard floods. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 6:30 PM CST Tuesday the stage was 13.2 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late tonight to a crest of 30.0 feet tomorrow evening.
