Description:
* WHAT...Rough bar conditions expected. For the Small Craft
Advisory, seas 7 to 10 ft at 12 to 14 seconds and winds 10 to 15
kt with gusts to 25 kt. For the Gale Warning, seas 15 to 20 ft
at 15 to 17 seconds and winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts to 35 kt.
* WHERE...In the Main Channel of the Columbia River Bar.
* WHEN...Small Craft Advisory until 4 AM PST Saturday. Gale
Warning from 4 AM PST Saturday to 1 PM PST Saturday.
* IMPACTS...Conditions will be hazardous to small craft,
especially when operating near to, or attempting to cross, the
Columbia River Bar.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Ebb current of 4.42 kt at 805 PM Friday.
Seas 10 to 12 ft. Ebb current of 3.02 kt at 905 AM Saturday.
Seas 12 to 14 ft. Ebb current of 3.7 kt at 854 PM Saturday. Seas
12 to 16 ft.
Instruction:
A Small Craft Advisory means that wave conditions are expected to
be hazardous to small craft in the vicinity of the Columbia River
Bar. Mariners are advised to obtain the latest bar conditions
from the United States Coast Guard before attempting to cross the
bar.
A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or
occurring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires
experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly
recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe
harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.
