Description:
* WHAT...For the Gale Warning, seas 15 to 19 ft at 14 seconds and
southeast winds 10 to 20 kt with gusts up to 35 kt. For the
Hazardous Seas Warning, very steep and hazardous seas 17 to 20
ft at 20 seconds and south winds 10 to 20 kt with gusts up to 30
kt expected.
* WHERE...In the Main Channel of the Columbia River Bar.
* WHEN...Gale Warning, until 7 PM PST this evening. Hazardous
Seas Warning, from 7 PM this evening to 4 PM PST Monday.
* IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could
capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Ebb current of 3.05 kt at 950 PM Sunday.
Seas 12 to 16 ft. Ebb current of 3.41 kt at 1055 AM Monday. Seas
13 to 18 ft. Ebb current of 2.54 kt at 1053 PM Monday. Seas 12
to 15 ft.
Instruction:
A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or
occurring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires
experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly
recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe
harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.
