...HIGH SURF WARNING FOR NORTH AND WEST FACING SHORES OF NIIHAU KAUAI OAHU MOLOKAI NORTH FACING SHORES OF MAUI AND WEST FACING SHORES OF THE BIG ISLAND... .Surf along exposed north and west facing shores will peak this evening through tonight, then slowly ease Friday into the weekend as the current west-northwest to northwest (290 to 315 degrees) swell gradually fades. * WHAT...Surf of 30 to 40 feet along exposed north facing shores lowering to 20 to 30 feet on Friday. Surf of 20 to 30 along exposed west facing shores lowering to 18 to 24 feet Friday. Surf of 10 to 14 feet along exposed west facing shores of the Big Island. * WHERE...Portions of Kauai, Maui, Molokai, Niihau, Oahu and the Big Island. * WHEN...Until 6 PM HST Friday. * IMPACTS...High. Expect very strong breaking waves and powerful currents. Waves breaking in channel entrances may make navigating the channels dangerous.

Stay away from the shoreline along the affected coasts. Be prepared for road closures. Postpone entering or leaving channels affected by the high surf until the surf subsides.
