Confidence remains high that a storm force low will move into the gulf Monday, bringing widespread sustained southerly severe- gales to our gulf and coastal waters, with some smaller regions reaching storm force. Fresh seas of 28ft to 32ft are expected. Winds and waves decrease Wednesday but another strong system will move into the gulf Thursday. Mariners operating in the inner channels late Monday and Tuesday can expect near-gale force southerly winds for exposed areas like Chatham and Clarence, with the potential for gales as the first low makes landfall Tuesday.
