At 1107 AM CST, Doppler radar indicated a front with a broken line
of showers, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. This
front was located along a line extending from 54 nm southwest of
East Breaks 228 to 36 nm east of Laguna Madre to 20 nm east of Boca
Chica Beach, moving east at 10 knots.
Just after the front passed, buoy 42020...about 50 nm east northeast
of Port Mansfield...recorded a gust to 35 knots at 945 AM. Farther
south, gusts were generally below 34 knots at stations along Laguna
Madre and the immediate coast. The best chance for gusts of 30 to 33
knots remains across the water south of Port Mansfield but east of
20 nm out, through around noon.
Instruction:
Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor
immediately until these storms pass.
