At 1055 PM EST, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots and small hail. These
thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 11 nm north of
Norwalk Islands to near Fire Island Inlet, moving northeast at 25
knots.
Locations impacted include...
Norwalk Islands, New Haven Harbor, Long Neck Point, Smithtown Bay,
Stamford Harbor, Port Jefferson Harbor, Captain Harbor, Cold Spring
Harbor, Stratford Shoal, and Huntington Bay.
Instruction:
Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, lightning strikes, and heavy downpours. Boaters should seek
safe harbor immediately until these storms pass.
