Description:
* WHAT...For the Small Craft Advisory, Rough bar conditions
expected. Seas to 10 to 13 ft with steep ebb chop. South winds
15 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. For the Gale Warning, seas
13 to 14 ft at 13 seconds and south winds 20 to 30 kt with gusts
up to 40 kt expected.
* WHERE...In the Main Channel of the Columbia River Bar.
* WHEN...Small Craft Advisory, until 1 PM PST this afternoon.
Gale Warning, from 1 PM this afternoon to 10 PM PST this
evening.
* IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could
capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Ebb current of 3.97 kt at 739 AM Saturday.
Seas 11 ft. Ebb current of 5.15 kt at 735 PM Saturday. Seas 10
to 13 ft. Ebb current of 4.25 kt at 832 AM Sunday. Seas 8 ft.
Instruction:
A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or
occurring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires
experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly
recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe
harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.
