Description:
* WHAT...For the Small Craft Advisory, Rough bar conditions
expected. Seas 8 to 13 ft at 14 seconds and south winds 10 to 20
kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Winds turn southeast with gusts
falling below 20 kt after 1100 Thursday. For the Gale Watch,
seas 5 to 8 ft at 7 seconds and southeast winds 10 to 20 kt with
gusts up to 35 kt possible.
* WHERE...In the Main Channel of the Columbia River Bar.
* WHEN...Small Craft Advisory, until 4 AM PST Friday. Gale
Watch, from late tonight through late Friday night.
* IMPACTS...Strong winds can cause hazardous seas which could
capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Ebb current of 3.31 kt at 131 AM Thursday.
Seas 8 to 9 ft. Very strong ebb current of 6.43 kt at 201 PM
Thursday. Seas 13 to 14 ft. Ebb current of 3.33 kt at 229 AM
Friday. Seas 11 to 12 ft. For the Gale Watch, occasional storm
force gusts possible.
Instruction:
A Gale Watch is issued when the risk of gale force winds of 34 to
47 knots has significantly increased, but the specific timing
and/or location is still uncertain. It is intended to provide
additional lead time for mariners who may wish to consider
altering their plans.
