Description:
At 929 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Forestburg to near Loomis to Stickney, moving
east at 55 mph.
HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Public. At 920 PM CDT, a 66 mph wind gust was reported 1
mile WNW of Mount Vernon.
IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile
homes, roofs, and outbuildings.
Locations impacted include...
Mitchell, Artesian, Loomis and Fedora.
Instruction:
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM CDT for south
central, central, southeastern and east central South Dakota.
Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly
from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the
basement or small central room in a sturdy structure.
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside
should move to a shelter, inside a strong building and away from
windows.
