out 20 nm...
Coastal waters from Port Fourchon Louisiana to Lower Atchafalaya
River LA from 20 to 60 NM...
At 116 AM CST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts
was located 23 nm east of Ship Shoal 198, or 33 nm south of Isle
Derniers, moving north at 20 knots.
HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts in excess of 50 knots.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Waterspouts can quickly form and capsize boats...damage
vessels and oil rigs...and create suddenly higher waves.
Boats could suffer signifficant structual damage in high
winds. Small craft could capsize in suddenly higher waves.
The severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly open waters.
Instruction:
Dangerous high winds, waterspouts and suddenly higher waves are
expected! Boaters should avoid waterspouts and never try to navigate
near them. Seek shelter or move to safe harbor immediately!
