Special Weather Statement 01/06/2025 16:46 for North Carolina areas

Snow showers will continue into tonight across portions of the North Carolina mountains. The snow showers will be more common in the higher elevations along the Tennessee border but could occur over the Balsams and lower elevations of the border counties and into Buncombe County. The snow showers should retreat to the higher elevations along the Tennessee border later this evening before gradually tapering off overnight. Accumulations will range from a Dusting to possibly 2 inches in the lower elevations, with 1 to 4 inches in the higher elevations of the Smokies. Watch out for slippery spots on roads if traveling across the mountains.
