Description:
At 216 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 17
miles northwest of Bitter Lake Wildlife Refuge, or 20 miles north of
Roswell, moving east at 35 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and nickel size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of north central
Chaves County.
This includes Highway 285 between Mile Markers 123 and 136.
Instruction:
If threatening weather approaches your area, take shelter in a sturdy
building.
This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor your preferred
media outlets and NOAA Weather Radio for additional information and
possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 700 PM MDT for
southeastern New Mexico.
