At 651 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Payne Gap, or 9 miles north of Wise, moving east at 45 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Clintwood, Haysi, Davenport, Breaks Interstate, John Flannagan Lake, Big Rock, Clinchco, Nora, McClure, and Vansant.
Instruction: 
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service office in Charleston West Virginia. If on or near John Flannagan Lake, get out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
