Description:
At 855 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
High Rock Lake, or 10 miles south of Lexington, moving north at 50
mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.
Locations impacted include...
Lexington, Linwood, Arcadia, High Rock Boat Dock Marina, Welcome, Nc
Wildlife Access Boat Launch, High Rock Lake Marina & Campground, High
Rock, and High Rock Lake.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
Doppler radar has indicated weak rotation with this storm. If the
storm intensifies and rotation strengthens, a warning may need to be
issued.
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 600 PM EDT for central North
Carolina.
