Description:
At 526 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Tarboro, moving east at 15 mph. Other gusty showers were located
near Sharpsburg and between Whitakers and Scotland Neck.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Rocky Mount, Tarboro, Scotland Neck, Princeville, Sharpsburg,
Whitakers, Hobgood, Conetoe, Speed, and Leggett.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Doppler radar has indicated weak rotation with this storm. If the
storm intensifies and rotation strengthens, a warning may need to be
issued.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may
lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through
flooded roadways.
