Description:
At 516 AM CST, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of thunderstorms
along a line extending from 7 miles west of Lolita to Holiday Beach.
Movement was northeast at 30 mph. These storms are producing
torrential rain and near constant cloud to ground lightning.
HAZARD...Pea size hail and torrential rain along with gusty winds.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible along with
ponding of water on roads making for poor driving
conditions.
Locations impacted include...
Port Lavaca, Seadrift, Lamar, Point Comfort, Green Lake, Holiday
Beach, Tivoli, Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, Long Mott, Alamo
Beach, and Austwell.
This includes US Highway 87 between mile markers 828 and 840.
Instruction:
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
