Description:
At 230 PM CST, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7
miles northwest of Stonewall, or 9 miles southwest of Shreveport,
moving northeast at 25 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.
Locations impacted include...
Shreveport, Bossier City, Haughton, Greenwood, Blanchard, Benton,
Stonewall, Fosters, Eastwood, Keachi, Forbing, Barksdale Air Force
Base, Cross Lake, Ferguson, Robson, Keithville, Taylortown, Sligo,
Red Chute and Bodcau.
Instruction:
Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening
weather conditions.
This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional
information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
If on or near Cross Lake, get out of the water and move indoors or
inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles
from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close
enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not
be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
