HAZARDS...An area of heavy snow which can rapidly reduce visibility to less than a quarter of a mile. This area of heavy snow is producing snow at the rate of 1 inch per hour. LOCATION AND MOVEMENT...At 1216 PM MST, an area of heavy snow was between New Castle and Dowd Junction moving east at 10-15 MPH. LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE... Glenwood Springs, Eagle, Gypsum, Avon, Vail, Minturn, Edwards, Wolcott, Shoshone, Dotsero, Eagle-Vail, Dowd, and Sweetwater. This includes the following highways... Interstate 70 in Colorado between mile markers 104 and 173. Colorado 82 between mile markers 1 and 2. Colorado 131 between mile markers 1 and 5. SAFETY INFO... Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination.
