HAZARDS...A band of heavy snow which can rapidly reduce visibility to less than a quarter of a mile. This band of heavy snow is producing snow at the rate of 1 inch per hour. LOCATION AND MOVEMENT...At 138 PM MST, a band of heavy snow was along a line extending from near Gypsum to 7 miles south of Green Mountain Reservoir and moving south at 10 MPH. LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE... Eagle, Gypsum, Avon, Vail, Minturn, Redcliff, Edwards, Red Cliff, Wolcott, Gilman, Dotsero, Eagle-Vail, and Dowd. This includes the following highways... Interstate 70 in Colorado between mile markers 132 and 189. Colorado 131 between mile markers 1 and 6. SAFETY INFO... Use extra caution if you must travel into or through this band of heavy snow. Rapid changes in visibility and potentially slick roads may lead to accidents. Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination.
