Description:
* WHAT...For the Wind Advisory, east winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts
up to 50 mph expected. For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold
wind chills as low as zero expected.
* WHERE...Middle Rio Grande Valley including the Albuquerque Metro
Area. The strongest winds will occur at the base of Tijeras Canyon
in east Albuquerque.
* WHEN...For the Wind Advisory, from 5 PM this afternoon to midnight
MST tonight. For the Cold Weather Advisory, from midnight tonight
to 8 AM MST Wednesday.
* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
limbs may be blown down. Expect strong crosswinds on area
roadways. Bitter wind chills will increase the risk of frostbite
and hypothermia.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The potential exists for light snow in the
Rio Grande Valley. Blowing snow may produce lowered visibility as
well.
Instruction:
Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.
Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
