Description:
* WHAT...For the Winter Weather Advisory, light snow expected.
Likelihood of minor impacts from snow is greater than 60 percent.
Total snow accumulations up to one inch. For the Winter Storm
Warning, heavy snow and blowing snow expected. Likelihood of major
impacts from snow is greater than 70 percent. Total snow
accumulations between 8 and 12 inches.
* WHERE...Marias Pass, Polebridge, Highway 83 Bigfork to Swan Lake,
Essex, and Bad Rock Canyon.
* WHEN...For the Winter Weather Advisory, until 5 AM MST Friday. For
the Winter Storm Warning, from 5 AM Friday to 5 AM MST Saturday.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions
could impact the Friday morning and evening commutes, especially
over higher passes.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...For the advisory, black ice will be a concern
as cold, arctic air moves in, and there could be very light mixed
precipitation, and freezing fog between West Glacier and Marias
Pass through early Friday morning. Snow rates will intensify along
with the strong east winds gusting to 40 mph during the day Friday
which will cause blowing snow, and reduce visibility down to one
quarter miles at times. Wind chill temperatures as low as 20 below
zero at Marias Pass on Friday.
