Description:
* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation. Additional snow accumulations up
to two inches and ice accumulations around two tenths of an inch.
Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
* WHERE...Portions of east central, northeast, south central, and
southeast Kentucky.
* WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice.
Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions could
impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Freezing rain will mix with and change to
rain overnight. The remaining precipitation will then change back
to snow on Monday. The heaviest precipitation is expected through
the first part of the night. Although total snowfall amounts of 3
to 5 inches are forecast, the largest amount on the ground at any
given time may be less due to freezing rain and rain occurring in
the middle of the winter storm, atop the initial snowfall. Wind
gusts Monday in excess of 30 mph could lead to further tree damage
and power outages.
