Description:
* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation. Additional snow accumulations up
to two inches and ice accumulations between two tenths and three
tenths of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
* WHERE...A portion of east central Kentucky.
* WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Expect power outages and tree damage due to the ice.
Travel could be impossible. The hazardous conditions will affect
the Monday morning and evening commutes.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Freezing rain with likely switch to a period
of just rain before ending during the early morning hours of
Monday. Any remaining precipitation will change back to snow
during the day Monday. The heaviest precipitation is expected
through the first part of tonight. Although total snowfall amounts
of 4 to 8 inches are forecast, the largest depth on the ground at
any given time may be less due to freezing rain occurring in the
middle of the winter storm, atop the initial snowfall. Wind gusts
on Monday in excess of 30 mph could lead to further tree damage
and power outages.
