Description:
* WHAT...Heavy snow accumulations between 5 to 9 inches. Areas in
the snowbelts of northwest lower Michigan may see amounts as high
as 12 to 16 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph can result in
whiteout conditions due to blowing snow, particularly Wednesday
afternoon through Thursday morning. Significant drifting snow is
also possible.
* WHERE...A portion of Northern Lower Michigan.
* WHEN...Until 7 PM EST Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
likely become slick and hazardous. Whiteout conditions are
expected and will make travel treacherous and potentially
life-threatening. Travel could be very difficult to impossible.
Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The
hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning and
evening commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
Instruction:
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.
Persons should consider delaying all travel. Motorists should use
extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary.
