* WHAT...Snow and mixed precipitation expected. Likelihood of minor to moderate impacts from around 1 to 3 inches of snow is 80 percent, and 3 to 6 inches of snow is 40 percent. Total snowfall 1 to 2 inches south and west of Garrison Junction including Butte, 3 to 5 inches MacDonald Pass and Ovando. * WHERE...Georgetown Lake, Butte, Homestake Pass, MacDonald Pass, and Highway 12 Garrison to Elliston. * WHEN...From 5 AM Friday to 8 AM MST Saturday. * IMPACTS...For MINOR impacts from snow, expect a few inconveniences to normal activities. Use caution while driving. For MODERATE impacts from snow, expect disruptions to normal activities. Hazardous traveling conditions. Use extra caution while driving. Closures and disruptions to infrastructure may occur. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning and evening commutes, especially over higher passes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There will be two general periods of precipitation...the first will be accumulating snow with arctic air pushing west across the Divide...generally in the Ovando, Garrison Junction to MacDonald Pass area. Mixed precipitation is possible along I-90 west to Drummond and Highway 200 west to Clearwater Junction. A change to snow showers is expected Friday night. Easterly wind gusts to 35 mph at Helmville to US-12 east of Garrison Junction, will produce periods of blowing snow and reduced visibility less than one mile at times. Wind chill temperatures as low as 10 degrees.
