Description:
* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations
between 3 and 7 inches and a light glaze of ice accumulation.
North winds at 15 to 25 mph.
* WHERE...Portions of northwest and west central Kansas and
southwest Nebraska.
* WHEN...From noon Saturday to 6 PM CST Sunday.
* IMPACTS...Hazardous travel conditions.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Precipitation may begin as light freezing
rain or sleet Saturday afternoon. Precipitation will transition
to snow Saturday evening. Moderate to occasionally heavy snow and
blowing snow are expected late Saturday night and Sunday morning.
Snow will end from west to east Sunday afternoon. Locations east
of Highway 83 will see the greatest amount of snow accumulation.
Instruction:
Consider alternate travel plans. Travel delays are likely along the
Interstate 70 corridor in northwest Kansas this weekend. If you must
travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in
case of an emergency. For road conditions in Kansas, Nebraska, and
Colorado call 511. Do not use GPS for alternate routes or go around
barricades.
