...HEAVY SNOW ACROSS THE NORTHERN PANHANDLE...
.For the Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories, a warm front
moving northward through Sunday is bringing winter mix for Juneau
and Gustavus and snow up to the Klondike and Haines Highways.
Warming temperatures will push northward Sunday night through
Monday, causing a change to liquid. Timing issues are complicating
the changeover times. A separate front will bring heavy rain and
upper elevation snow to the region Monday night through Tuesday.
* WHAT...Wintry mix expected. Light snow, ice pellets, and pockets
of light rain or drizzle through into the evening. Additional
snow accumulations of less than 1 inch. Potential ice
accumulation will also be minimal. Winds gusting as high as 35
mph.
* WHERE...Glacier Bay and City and Borough of Juneau.
* WHEN...Until midnight AKST tonight.
* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery conditions. The hazardous
conditions could impact the morning commute.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Warming aloft is spreading over cooler
temperatures at the surface and may change completely over to
rain but periods of freezing rain may be possible. The timing
for the precipitation changeover to liquid may vary leading to
different snowfall totals.
