Description:
* WHAT...Expected snow accumulations between 3 and 6 inches; locally
higher at elevations above 2500 feet. Winds gusting as high as 50
mph.
* WHERE...In Maryland, Garrett County. In West Virginia, Western
Grant and Western Mineral Counties.
* WHEN...Until noon EST Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Brief whiteout conditions are possible with visibilities
dropping below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. The
strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines
and could cause sporadic power outages. Travel could be very
difficult along Interstate 68, on US-40 west of Big Savage
Mountain, and US-48 west of Scherr, WV. The hazardous conditions
look to worsen during the early morning and overnight hours.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snowfall rates around 0.5 to 1 inch per hour
are possible at times through Thursday morning especially in
embedded snow squalls. Freezing fog is possible between steadier
snows. Wind chills of 10 to -10 are expected at times through
Thursday.

Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road
conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by
calling 5 1 1.
Persons are urged to stay indoors until conditions improve. If you
must go outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will
keep you warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to
reduce your risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a
hat will keep you from losing your body heat.
