Description:
...SNOW FOR THE NORTHERN AND CENTRAL PANHANDLE THROUGH WEDNESDAY...
Another system is moving into the panhandle early this morning
is bringing heavier snowfall rates across much of central and
northern southeast Alaska. Snow is expected to mix with and
eventually change over to rain on Tuesday from Sitka over to Kake
and Petersburg, however, if the changeover is delayed, snowfall
amounts could be higher.
* WHAT...Snow. Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 10 inches.
* WHERE...City and Borough of Sitka, Petersburg Borough and
Western Kupreanof Island and Kuiu Island.
* WHEN...Until 3 PM AKST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous
conditions could impact the morning commute.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snowfall amounts will be highly dependent
on how fast the changeover to rain occurs on Tuesday. A delay in
the changeover timing could result in higher snowfall amounts.
Sitka is already seeing a rain/snow mix this morning though they
could change to all snow as heavier precip rates move in before
