...ACTIVE WINTRY WEATHER IN THE NORTHERN PANHANDLE...
.A front will continue to push moisture northward, reinforced by
another frontal trough Monday evening. Lower elevations near
Skagway have already seen a transition to all rain this morning as
warm strong southerly winds have pushed up Lynn Canal. Cold air
looks to remain in place at the higher elevations where mainly
snow is expected along the Klondike Highway. The Haines Highway
will likewise see cooling temperatures and snowfall, with the
heaviest rates occurring during the overnight hours late Monday
night.
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations around 3 to 5
inches.
* WHERE...Haines Highway, especially near Haines Customs.
* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 9 AM AKST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heaviest snow rates and accumulations are
expected Monday night, lighter rates are likely Monday evening.

winter weather.
