Description:
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations up to 3 inches.
Locally higher totals are possible on ridges above 3000 feet.
Winds gusting as high as 55 mph.
* WHERE...In Maryland, Extreme Western Allegany County. In Virginia,
Western Highland County. In West Virginia, Western Mineral County.
* WHEN...Until 1 AM EST Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road
conditions on I-68 and US-40 west of La Vale, US-50 west of New
Creek, and US-250 west of Hightown. The hazardous conditions could
impact holiday travel. Strong winds could cause damage to trees
and power lines.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Precipitation will change to snow by daybreak
this morning. Snowfall rates up to 1 inch per hour are possible at
times through Wednesday evening especially in embedded snow
squalls that pass through. Freezing drizzle is possible in between
steadier snows. Precipitation intensity will decrease by early
Thursday morning.
