...ANOTHER ROUND OF SNOW EXPECTED FOR THE PANHANDLE MONDAY...
.A weak open low is located over northern Baranof Island as of
530AM AKDT, with a band of snow showers along the Icy Strait
corridor. Snow showers may bring visibility down to less then a
mile at times, potentially impacting the morning commute.
Localized higher snowfall rates will remain possible within
heavier showers, with most accumulations happening through Monday
morning. Snow showers will diminish in coverage and intensity
through the afternoon.
* WHAT...Snow. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches.
Visibility reduced to 1 mile or less.
* WHERE...Gustavus, Prince of Wales Island, Sitka, Petersburg,
Kake, Port Alexander
* WHEN...Until 10 AM AKDT this morning.
* IMPACTS...Travel by land, air, and sea could be impacted. This
could impact the morning commute.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A heavier band of snow is moving
northward towards the Icy Strait corridor and Juneau area with
snowfall rates up to half an inch per hour. Snow showers will
continue through late Monday morning. Snowfall accumulations
will be variable across the area due to the hit or miss nature
of these showers.
