...MESSY WINTER SYSTEM TONIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING... .A strong storm system will move into the area tonight, exiting the area Wednesday. Several inches of wet, heavy snow is expected across parts of the eastern UP, with a mixture of snow, sleet, and freezing rain from the Mackinac Bridge to approximately M-72, with a greater potential for significant freezing rain accumulations from Roscommon to Alpena and Harrisville, including some areas hard-hit by the March 2025 Ice Storm. * WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations up to two inches and ice accumulations around a quarter of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. * WHERE...A portion of Northern Lower Michigan. * WHEN...From 8 PM this evening to 8 PM EDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning and evening commutes.
