* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
This approaches the flood of record.
* WHERE...Wisconsin River at Portage.
* WHEN...Until late Thursday morning.
* IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Sunset Point-Conant St underwater.
Floodwaters affect homes in the Blackhawk Park area as well as
River Oaks Road in the Town of Dekorra, River Shores Road in the
Town of Lewiston, and Levee Road in the Portage area. Water is
over Thunderbird Road.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 5:00 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 20.0 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 12.7 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 5:00 AM CDT Saturday was 20.5 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
early Thursday morning and continue falling to 15.4 feet
Friday evening.
- Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
20.1 feet on 04/22/2019.

Instruction:
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet
and a depth of 2 feet will float your car. Never try to walk, swim,
or drive through such swift water. If you come upon flood waters,
stop, turn around and go another way.
