Description:
Heavy rain on top of the existing snowpack may increase the rate of
snowmelt. The resultant runoff may cause water levels in area rivers
to increase and flooding is possible.
* WHAT...Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...In Wisconsin, Ashland, Bayfield and Iron Counties. This
includes the Tribal Lands of the Red Cliff Band, the northwestern
county of the Lac du Flambeau Band and the Bad River Reservation.
Other locations including the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore
and Madeline Island.
* WHEN...Through Wednesday morning.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Around 1 to 3 inches of rain is expected to fall over several
inches of lingering snowpack along the South Shore of Lake
Superior. Areas of minor flooding are possible in the
Bayfield Peninsula and east over northern Ashland and Iron
counties.
