Apply for a business license in Washington State.
Opening a business in Washington State? If so, the Washington State's Business Licensing Service (BLS) allows you to apply for a state business license, and add on a city business license, for a number of cities, at the same time you apply.
The state's Business Licensing Service also assigns a Unified Business Identifier (UBI) to your business. Keep the UBI number handy for renewals, changes of ownership or location, state business taxes, hire employees, and other business services with the state.
Step 1
Create the business structure. Determine what type of business structure the business will operate under. There are different types of business structures from a sole proprietorship to corporation and others. As such, each has advantages and disadvantages.
Register the business entity with the Secretary of State's office to create your business structure.

Apply for a state business license, and add on a city business license, as needed.
Receive a Unified Business Identifier (UBI) used for all state related business transactions.
